Kate Beckinsale’s PERFECT red carpet wardrobe…

We only see her on the most covetable red carpets, but when she pulls on her glad rags, she really turns it out. Kate Beckinsale has one amazing red carpet, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever not liked a dress she’s been seen papped in. She has it down to an art form.

With award season over, we’ve all had time to digest, critique, praise, lament or bitch over the red carpets and the dresses that come with them. Kate’s a leader, she’s a dark horse in the A list pack.

Here’s a little run down of her red carpet style: from thigh-high slits, epic drama, some essential Vivienne Westwood, even a jumpsuit and some high glamour, if you ever wanted any gown advice, look to Kate!

Vanity Fair Party 2013 Best Dressed… MY GOODNESS there’s lots!

Oh my God, never mind the Oscars red carpet, the Vanity Fair after party saw some of the best dresses of the season/year/century. From Giambattista Valli to Stephane Rolland couture (YAY), finally some of the dresses I’ve been DYING to see on a red carpet are shown off in all their glory.

It has left me thinking though, WHY OH WHY DIDN’T SOME OF THESE STARS WHERE THESE DRESSES TO THE ACTUAL OSCARS????

Actually a bit speechless right now, these dresses. THESE DRESSES…

 ***Kate Beckinsale in Monique Lhuillier***
I have to start with Kate because she is my ultimate girl crush. This is why I love award season, Kate comes out, all dressed up, looking like this. The rest of the year, she’s grocery shopping. What a STUNNING dress. And straight from Lhuillier’s most recent autumn/winter 2013 collection too. That means something. It means she’s CHIC.

***The Bingbings – Fan and Li***
I thought Fan had excited us enough with her pink Marchesa dress from the Oscars, obviously not. This monochrome Oscar de la Renta gown is AH-MA-ZING. And friend (no relation apparently) Li, Gucci’s brand ambassador, totally owned this turquoise trouser suit from the spring 2013 collection. What a pair!
***Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein***
See, her Oscars dress was a bit predictable for me. However, this sparkler was so unexpected! It’s youthful, dramatic and GORGEOUS. She should have chosen this for the Oscars.
***Karolina Kurkova in Atelier Versace***
Yes, she’s a model, and yes, the dress looks almost the same as it did on the catwalk, but it’s still so nice to see it out and about, on a red carpet. Love the playfulness of it, look at that smile, it says it all!
***Anne Hathaway in Saint Laurent***
THIS should have been her Oscars dress. THIS IS THE ONE. It’s still a very her aesthetic (i.e. a tad safe), but a million times better than nipple-gate Prada. Apparently Anne decided to wear the Prada dress three hours before her appearance on the red carpet. This should have been the one she changed too.

 ***Kristen Chenoweth in Giorgio Armani***
She’s a little red carpet dynamo, and in this uber romantic dress, she looks the best she has done for a long time. Not that she ever looks bad, but she did choose a rather spangly dress for the Oscars. This one is miles better if you ask me!

***Diane Kruger in Giambattista Valli couture***
Another dress I was dying to see on the red carpet, thank you Diane. It’s got a really gorgeous cape back, that you can just about make out here. I love love love this shape. She looks tres chic.

***Irina Shayk in Stephane Rolland couture***
Irina who? It doesn’t matter who she is (Russian model), it’s this dress that matters. THIS DRESS! You may know that Stephane Rolland is one of my all time favourite designers, thank GOD someone wore one of his amazing designs this award season. JUST PURE WOW.

***Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Andrew Gn***
I’m in LOVE with this dress. It’s not sparkly or glitzy, so I know it’s a surprise I love it so much, but the monochrome, the pockets and this new shape – a big, bell, full skirt – is really ticking all the boxes for me. Well done Mary, you look stunning.

***Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta***
Oooo she’s done well, our Amy.  What a corker… floor length, fringed, perfection.

***Naomi Watts in Emilio Pucci***
From a gorgeous sci-fi-ish Armani Prive gown, to this contouring, black and gold goddess gown, Naomi is my new one to watch. WOW.

***Jane Fonda in Reem Acra***
One last one, and to finish on Jane Fonda leaves me smiling. Another FAB dress from the 75-year-old. Age appropriate, sexy and shows off that amazing body. She’s at the top of the red carpet game!

Kate Beckinsale, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME…

…I mean really, it should be criminal to look this good!

I don’t know whether it’s just a case of me seeing Kate Beckinsale’s Diane Von Furstenberg pink jumpsuit as the best bit of celebrity red carpet styling EVER, or I actually do want to turn for her, but either way she is 100% my girl crush.

What do you think of her Spirit Awards 2012 look? Obsessed as me??

And so it begins… Kate Beckinsale in Donna Karan for David Letterman’s show!

Thank god for her new movie, Underworld: Awakening. Now we are privy to sensational Kate Beckinsale in dresses like this… an asymmetric neckline, one shouldered, glittering Donna Karan. She’s breathtaking, isn’t she? Effortlessly gorgeous.

Do you love Kate’s dress too??

LOVE IT: Kate Beckinsale covers Harper’s Bazaar Arabia!

I’m sorry, why is this woman so intent on staying behind closed doors for so long? Starving her adoring public of that gorgeous face, making us pine for her. It’s not fair Kate Beckinsale. It’s not fair I say. But then again, that’s probably the exact reason behind her stints of no-public-eye activity – it makes us love her even more when we DO FINALLY SEE HER. And seeing her on a cover of a magazine… not just any magazine, my favourite magazine – Harper’s Bazaar Arabia – is literally music to my eyes!

She’s having a long ‘out’ stint of late. This latest shoot with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia – does she not look utterly flawlessly gorgeous in these pics? – is just one of three magazines she’s posed for. My pal Fashion Foie Gras tells me that Kate has also appeared on Harper’s Bazaar Russia’s January 2012 cover (a tad weird that two Harper’s mags have her as the cover star, but the more the merrier I say!) and she is also on the cover of Redbook January 2012. FABULOUS!

Not only this, but I’ve just imdb’d her and, much to my amazement, the website tells me that in fact Kate has two movies in pre-production (The Trials of Cate McCullough and Happy Holidays, Katherine Sloane), two in post-production (Total Recall and Underworld Awakening) and one that is completed – Contraband out in 2012. What a busy lady she’s been! No wonder he haven’t seen her. Ooops, apologies Kate!

You know what this means though?? LOTS AND LOTS OF RED CARPETS AND PRESS JUNKETS FOR KATE!

I can’t wait. Thank God we’ll (I’ll) be seeing more of this gorgeous creature!

The return of Kate Beckinsale… at the Comic-con convention

I’ve often tweeted as to the whereabouts of Hollywood beauty Kate Beckinsale. We haven’t seen her for love nor money recently. I think the last time was the Cannes Film Festival LAST year in that amazing Balmain dress. Thankfully, last night, Kate made an appearance in San Diego at the Comic-con fan convention.

Now, I have not got a clue what the Comic-con convention is (it’s a lot of C’s though isn’t it??), but what I do know is that Kate, even though in a simple belted black number, looked, as per usual, drop dead gorgeous.

We need to be seeing a lot more of you Kate. She’ll be 40 very soon, so if you’re looking this good, we wanna see!! Lots of long gowns please, and more of these short, more casual looks are most welcome too.

That’s all.

My love affair continues…

Does this lady EVER get it wrong? I’m so in love, so in awe, so taken by Kate at the moment that I think I might be on the turn…oh no, wait, I got a bit carried away, I just LOVE her dresses. And of course her captivatingly stunning beauty that, quite frankly, is hard to come across these days.

It might be a case of a good stylist, but it ain’t the stylist who’s wearing the couture, it’s Kate. The way she holds herself just screams class and sophistication. I realise that Cannes is a super busy time for the A list wardrobe, but this woman has schlepped herself into the finest frocks I’ve seen on the red carpets of late.

Below, Kate wears the black Nina Ricci tiered number and the neutral-coloured embellished Armani Prive gown. She had a jewellery mishap when an earring fell down her cleav! At least she saw the funny side of it!

I. Love. Kate.

Kate Beckinsale Shines In Balmain (and the rest!) at Cannes

I think even I underestimated the mighty fashion force that is Kate Beckinsale. Here she is last night in Cannes, once again on the red carpet and once again in the most breath taking frock! This time she chose Balmain, and what a bloody good choice to!

To me, Kate’s always been the underlying beauty of Hollywood, and the best thing about her? She’s actually an English rose! She often fades out of the limelight for a while, going about her daily business, only to BURST on the scene again, slapping us all in the face with her undeniable, effortless beauty.

OMG Kate, you’ve taken my breath away which, for a woman, is a hard thing to do!

Blimey blimey blimey.
