Sarah Jessica Parker for Harper’s Bazaar China – WOW!

In Dolce & Gabbana spring summer 2013

And I don’t know if I mean WOW good or WOW bad. I mean, I love love love Sarah Jessica Parker, and I’m crazy about any edition of Harper’s Bazaar (remember me tracking down the Arabian cover with Kim Kardashian?), but is this China edition cover shot one Photoshop session too many?

Her feline eyes here remind me of that scene in the Sex And The City Movie (I think second one?) where she buys the mascara from the Souk man, and there’s a close up of her applying it. They looked insane then too, but a bit fake?

Having said all that, the Dolce & Gabbana dress she’s wearing is GAWWWGUS, as are the other looks from the shoot.

To be honest, she can really wear anything and make it look half decent, so it’s no surprise she takes some of the hardest to wear pieces from the spring summer 2013 catwalks and TURNS. THEM. OUT.

Here’s some more shots from the March issue…

Blog Off: Sarah Jessica Parker in Maison Martin Margiela Couture…

Sarah Jessica Parker rolled out yet another statement dress on Wednesday at the amfAR New York Gala. This time it was a Maison Martin Margiela couture Spring 2013 gown in bright pink with a mile-long scarf thing round her neck.

She never conforms. She never does boring. She ALWAYS takes fashion risks. That’s why we love her. Whatever your opinion on any of her outfits, she makes a statement, which is what fashion is all about if you ask me!

Here’s what some blogger friends thought…

Sarah Jessica Parker is an icon, there’s no disputing that, but personally I don’t think this is one of her best looks. The dress swamps her tiny frame and although there’s some interesting detailing, it doesn’t feel very SJP. Hmmmm.
I know SJP is famous for experimental pieces, but to me this looks like someone just threw it at her. And the snake… oh the snake. She’s all set for an hour in Peter Stringfellow’s love nest!
When this dress was shown on the Maison Martin Margiela catwalk, the model had a bag on her head (see Style.com) and I don’t blame her, but SJP kinda makes this work in a boho/hobo/Cruella chic kinda way. Bonus points for wearing Barbie pink, minus points for the beaded skunk.
***And moi…***
I think SJP can absolutely work a billowing dress, she’s done it before and she’ll do it again, I’m not entirely convinced that this dress is special enough though. Having said that, I adore the colour on her, and I love that she’s worn it exactly as the model did, with scarf thing, sans scary mask obvs!

Who do YOU agree with??

Sarah Jessica Parker wears Mary Katrantzou’s money… YES PLEASE!

Thank Christ it’s Sarah Jessica Parker that is one of the first to wear Mary Katrantzou’s money print amazingness from the designer’s Spring Summer 2013 collection.

Let’s all do a collective ‘WOW’, shall we?

Here she is, stepping out in New York yesterday, in a custom Mary dress, looking every inch the fashionista. Is she SJP here or Carrie though? There seems to be no film cameras around, so we must presume it’s SJP in her ‘normal’ mother role, although this is definitely a Carrie outfit.

The coat is stunning too, but I’m a bad fashion-person and only know the dress and not coat designer, although I think it might be Erdem (?). Anyone?

*Catwalk version of SJP’s dress… not really this-weather-appropriate!*

Red Carpet Roundup – Cate Blanchett, Katie Holmes and THAT Geri Halliwell dress…

I just thought I’d share with you the best and, erm, most interesting looks (note how I’m kinda sitting on the fence in an attempt not to annoy anyone!) from the red carpets of this week. To be honest, this should just be all about Cate Blanchett, she’s totally blown me away with her two recent looks, but there’s a couple of others that have caught my eye…

Above: Cate Blanchett at the Hobbit premiere in London last night, wearing an AMAZING white Givenchy Spring Summer 2013 gown
Below: in a gorgeous Peter Pilotto top and skirt combo.

Who cares if everyone saw Anne Hathaway’s goodies, she sure as hell makes up for her Sharon Stone Basic Instinct moment in this daring Tom Ford cape-back gown. The shoes, however, look a bit too leg brace-y for me.
I usually find Katie Holmes utterly uninteresting and boring, and very safe with her fashion choices, but this purple velvet Tom Ford dress is probably the best she’s ever worn! Great colour for a brunette, and a sexy length and cut for her too. WOW moment.

I’m so bloody impressed with Sarah Jessica Parker right now. She’s a fashion icon, we know, but to wear this Erdem two-piece that could easily have drowned her, and look THIS amazing is a feat in itself. Definitely the best of the week!
Ohhh ‘ere she is, little miss flasher! I mean, what’s with the showing off your smalls Kristen? Haven’t you learnt your lesson? It’s not even nice! She looks awkward, and quite frankly that easel and board look better than she does.

Geri, love, stop it. Just stop. Stop trying to get all the attention when you look so hideous. What’s this toilet roll holder you’re wearing? It’s so wrong. It’s so mother-of-the-bride. In fact the only one I like here is Victoria, obviously. She’s working that School Gate chic to the max!
This picture upsets me.

Sarah Jessica Parker and her coloured tights/shoe combo!

t

I can never work out if this kind of thing really offends me or I actually really like it! Obviously Sarah Jessica Parker looks gorgeous as always, and I really do think the soft beige of her (Valentino?) dress and coat is complimented perfectly by the blue of the tights, but still… I’m not sure!

I think it’s because it might be slightly either too try hard, or that it reminds me of my great grandma’s terrible fashion choices towards the later part of her life – the sag of her tights at the ankle with bad shoes. Although here, SJP’s shoes are fab and Choos!

What do you think??

Sarah Jessica Parker hats up like Grace Jones!

Sarah Jessica Parker makes it NO secret that she loves a good ol’ statement head piece. Over the years, actually probably just the last couple of years, she’s definitely sported a few erm, looks. And here, at the Crown Oaks Club Ladies Luncheon (doncha know!) in Melbourne, she dons yet another fabulous head-ssory – designed by King Of The Hat, Philip Treacy.

Why she doesn’t just tell everyone her muse is Grace Jones is beyond me. We won’t mind SJP. I mean, there are worse people to admire. Hell, I’d LOVE to be able to emulate Grace, however my lack of a leotard-ready body and moneys-no-object wardrobe might stop me.

This might be a clever trick to disguise a hideous face peel gone wrong, remember that scene in Sex And The City when Samantha wears a hat with a black veil to hide hers?

Or it might just be a piece of fashion art. Yes, that’s it!

Sarah Jessica Parker in red cape dress… only Giambattista Valli, no biggie!

She’s been Ms Fashion for quite a while now… well, a good few years anyway, so it’s no real surprise that when Sarah Jessica Parker hits the red carpet she chooses haute couture. And last night she did just that for the ‘I Don’t Know How She Does It’ film presentation in Moscow, wearing Giambattista Valli.

What a very apt name. I don’t know she does it… makes any dress look uber fabulous. This red Giambattista Valli couture 2011 gown, equipped with matching cape, was probably one of the most ‘wow’ standout frocks from the collection, and SJP looks so… comfortable in it. May not sound difficult to do, but this dress definitely has the potential to a) wear the owner rather than the other way round and b) look a little too Red Riding Hood – not on her. She rocked it!

I’ve gushed about the whole Valli couture collection before, but see SJP’s dress on the catwalk here

Cannes 2011: Sarah Jessica Parker wears Elie Saab

Sarah Jessica Parker always looks good. But sometimes she gets it SO right. This is one example. SJP stepped out in an over-printed, cinched in at the waist, to the floor Elie Saab gown that, as you can see from the pictures, not only made her look 10 feet tall, but moved like a dress should.

The detail to the neck, cuffs and waist are testament to Saab’s couture craftsmanship, and his fountain of knowledge as to how to dress the female body, i.e. perfectly.

I also love when Sarah Jessica gives that deep, intense stare. Her feline eyes always seem more prominent and just makes her look uber beautiful in front of the camera lenses. Ooo has she been taking notes from Tyra I wonder? A bit of ‘smizing’ perhaps?

Doesn’t she look FAB?!
