2 Chainz in Versace (obvs!) at the American Music Awards…

I’m SO glad I finally found pictures of 2 Chainz on the red carpet of the American Music Awards from last night.

As I’ve said a lot of times in the past, he is without doubt my favourite dressed man in the music industry. If I’m honest, marginally better than Adam Lambert, and that pains me to admit.

He was OBVIOUSLY in Versace, his favourite label, and he looks bloody FAAAABULOUS darlings! The printed shirt is phenomenal, and those acid-yellow chain Giuseppe Zanotti trainers are EPIC.

And look at those jewels up close. I’ve actually tried on ALL of these, and was going to get that ring!

Versace Home and the Haas Brothers

It sounds like the name of a quirky band, doesn’t’ it? But, lovely reader, it is in fact a brand new collaboration between my all time favourite label and the LA-based artists and designers.

Just when I thought I couldn’t drool over Versace’s Home collection any more, Donatella goes and commissions Nikolai and Simon Haas to create a 12 piece collection including – breathe breathe breathe… THE DONATELLA CHAIR! (below)

Other pieces include The Stud Chair, inspired by DVer’s (as I like to call her) personal style, and The Bondage Bench – a piece with so much umph to it that it left me quite breathless (dramatic, I know, but LOOK AT IT).

Of the collaboration, DVer comments:

I am thrilled by this special design project… They have captured the spirit of Versace, and taken us somewhere new. To me, it is like remix of Versace, one that has resulted in new iconic pieces for the home

Check out the video below too!

Vanity Fair Party 2013 Best Dressed… MY GOODNESS there’s lots!

Oh my God, never mind the Oscars red carpet, the Vanity Fair after party saw some of the best dresses of the season/year/century. From Giambattista Valli to Stephane Rolland couture (YAY), finally some of the dresses I’ve been DYING to see on a red carpet are shown off in all their glory.

Actually a bit speechless right now, these dresses. THESE DRESSES…

 ***Kate Beckinsale in Monique Lhuillier***
I have to start with Kate because she is my ultimate girl crush. This is why I love award season, Kate comes out, all dressed up, looking like this. The rest of the year, she’s grocery shopping. What a STUNNING dress. And straight from Lhuillier’s most recent autumn/winter 2013 collection too. That means something. It means she’s CHIC.

***The Bingbings – Fan and Li***
I thought Fan had excited us enough with her pink Marchesa dress from the Oscars, obviously not. This monochrome Oscar de la Renta gown is AH-MA-ZING. And friend (no relation apparently) Li, Gucci’s brand ambassador, totally owned this turquoise trouser suit from the spring 2013 collection. What a pair!
***Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein***
See, her Oscars dress was a bit predictable for me. However, this sparkler was so unexpected! It’s youthful, dramatic and GORGEOUS. She should have chosen this for the Oscars.
***Karolina Kurkova in Atelier Versace***
Yes, she’s a model, and yes, the dress looks almost the same as it did on the catwalk, but it’s still so nice to see it out and about, on a red carpet. Love the playfulness of it, look at that smile, it says it all!
***Anne Hathaway in Saint Laurent***
THIS should have been her Oscars dress. THIS IS THE ONE. It’s still a very her aesthetic (i.e. a tad safe), but a million times better than nipple-gate Prada. Apparently Anne decided to wear the Prada dress three hours before her appearance on the red carpet. This should have been the one she changed too.

 ***Kristen Chenoweth in Giorgio Armani***
She’s a little red carpet dynamo, and in this uber romantic dress, she looks the best she has done for a long time. Not that she ever looks bad, but she did choose a rather spangly dress for the Oscars. This one is miles better if you ask me!

***Diane Kruger in Giambattista Valli couture***
Another dress I was dying to see on the red carpet, thank you Diane. It’s got a really gorgeous cape back, that you can just about make out here. I love love love this shape. She looks tres chic.

***Irina Shayk in Stephane Rolland couture***
Irina who? It doesn’t matter who she is (Russian model), it’s this dress that matters. THIS DRESS! You may know that Stephane Rolland is one of my all time favourite designers, thank GOD someone wore one of his amazing designs this award season. JUST PURE WOW.

***Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Andrew Gn***
I’m in LOVE with this dress. It’s not sparkly or glitzy, so I know it’s a surprise I love it so much, but the monochrome, the pockets and this new shape – a big, bell, full skirt – is really ticking all the boxes for me. Well done Mary, you look stunning.

***Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta***
Oooo she’s done well, our Amy.  What a corker… floor length, fringed, perfection.

***Naomi Watts in Emilio Pucci***
From a gorgeous sci-fi-ish Armani Prive gown, to this contouring, black and gold goddess gown, Naomi is my new one to watch. WOW.

***Jane Fonda in Reem Acra***
One last one, and to finish on Jane Fonda leaves me smiling. Another FAB dress from the 75-year-old. Age appropriate, sexy and shows off that amazing body. She’s at the top of the red carpet game!

Halle Berry at the Oscars 2013 – Best Dressed #3

After the shocker that was Halle’s Golden Globes dress, I thought I could never forgive her. Alas, she proved me wrong. ALL IS FORGIVEN MIZZ BERRY, for you have outdone even yourself with this custom Versace gown!

And yes, it was Versace she wore to the Globes, but I’ve spoken to Halle since – we’re best friends you know – and she apologised profusely and agreed with me, after I made her repeat it 100 times, that some dresses ought to be left on the catwalks. This one however, needs to be EVERYWHERE. It’s simply… stunning.

Black and silver is a winning colour combo for Halle, it sets off her dark features perfectly, and the boxy shoulder and delicate cleavage and back straps are added pizazz that makes Halle best dressed number three for me.

WELL DONE LOVE, well done. Now send Donatella a box of choccies. She did good with this one.

Jane Fonda at the Oscars 2013 – Best Dressed #1

Oh COME ON! Are you serious? Jane Fonda is 75 – SEVENTY FIVE YEARS OLD, and this is how she looks at this year’s Oscars? Granted it’s Atelier Versace, and anything Versace gets my vote (apart from Halle Berry’s Golden Globe disaster, soz Donatella), but this is it. This is my first best dressed from last night’s awards.

Canary yellow is a daring option at the best of times, for a younger person, but Mizz Fonda absolutely does this colour justice. She can quite literally do whatever she wants with fashion and still look fabulous. She’s earned the right.

Blog Off… Selena Gomez in Atelier Versace

Sorry this is a little late, but I couldn’t not post it. Selena Gomez absolutely ROCKED the red carpet on Tuesday at the ‘Spring Breakers’ Berlin Premiere. I’m a sucker for anything Versace, as you all know, and I was DYING to see this Atelier Versace trouser suit on the red carpet. Selena did me, and Donatella, proud.

But what did my blogger friends think? Here ya go…

“I think Selena looks ace. This is a hard look to pull off for a woman…especially a young woman. The trouser suit can look old and masculine but this hot backless number is young and sexy”

“Wow, Selena is really strutting in this gorgeous, sexy Versace suit. I love the OTT gold detailing around the shoulders and the sheer back panel, it contrasts perfectly with the banker pinstripes. What I love most is Selena’s attitude, this tightly-fitted suit needs a swagger to pull off and she is working it. She’s really becoming a Versace ambassador”

“I do love a lady in a tuxedo. With her teeny tiny frame and outrageously gorgeous looks, Selena completely owns this look. I’m not mad on the shiny gold back, if I were her stylist I’d get rid of it, but otherwise this is practically perfect.”
***And moi…***
Like I said at the top of this post, she ROCKED the red carpet. I’m such a huge fan of this kind of power dressing, no matter what age you are. She looks hot, serious, fashionable and powerful all in one. BIG fan of Selena, especially in Versace.

Young Versace’s gawwwgus campaign shoot…

This is just a very quick blog post. A snippet of an entry. It’s just that after perusing the Versace website, which I like to do at least once a week, I happened to scroll through to the kids section and was rather captivated by the spring/summer 2013 campaign shots. They are just SOOOOO cute!! Every single shot is another level of fun. Not least because of the amazing clothes – the same camo floral prints from menswear for young boys, and the underwater theme carried over from womenswear spring/summer 2012 collection for the girls.

SUCH FUN as Miranda Hart’s mother (Patricia Hodge) likes to say.

CEO Gian Giacomo Ferraris described Young Versace as: “A high-end, glamorous and colourful collection in line with the brand’s essence, with a touch of rock ‘n’ roll”. And with casting as brilliant as this – these kids are genius – the brand is definitely at the top of the kid’s couture game (that’s another blog post entirely!).

I know what my kids will be wearing then!

Blog Off: Ne-Yo in Versace…

This week it’s Ne-Yo’s turn. We need to talk about some men after all, and where better to start than with a head-to-toe Versace look, eh? Ne-Yo attended the Atelier Versace couture show on Sunday in Paris, in a printed Autumn Winter 2012 suit, so naturally he was FROW!

Here’s what the men’s bloggers think…

Overall this is a thumbs up from me, it’s always good to see men pushing it a bit on the style front, although I hate the t-shirt. I would have kept it very simple with a plain grey T. Wearing the pea-coat, cape style really works too. Not a fan of that hat though!
I think he should leave the head-to-toe prints to Bryan Boy or Graham Norton, who can pull it off without looking like a gay cartoon gangster.
To quote Dolly “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap!” He looks like a pimp Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen. I guess it’s a shame because despite it not being my taste, he normally looks good. Better luck next time Ne-Yo.
***And moi…***
What’s wrong with you three guys, I LOVE this look! Apart from the hat, I think Ne-Yo looks FAB. The suit is gorgeous, and I love that the tee has hints of the blue too. I actually don’t like the shoes either, they could definitely go, but the rest I love.
It is Versace after all.

Who do YOU agree with??

Is this the most expensive couture coat, by Versace?

You all know by now that Versace has completely and utterly stolen my heart, from Gianni to Donatella and all that’s in between (meaning Versus really). And while the brand new Spring 2013 couture collection – shown last night – has already had a bashing from critics, I’m obviously in love with most of it… not least this incredible piece which I have since learnt is a “white mink coat, which, reworked with mirror, python and crystal embroidery, took 500 hours to construct.”

Is this the most expensive couture coat made in a long time? How much is it? I hear you ask… God knows – well actually Donatella knows, but we will sadly probably never find out.

I’m taking guesses though, I’m starting at £100,000. Any others?

Stay tuned for more from Atelier Versace 2013

Versace menswear Autumn Winter 2013 – AMAZING backstage shots + video!

I don’t really ‘do’ suits – it’s actually another reason why I love my job so much, I don’t have to go in smart – however Versace’s brand spanking new Autumn Winter 2013 collection makes me want to do tailoring in a BIG way. Oh, and I’m on the lookout for a wedding suit too.

I don’t think there’s any need to read between the lines of show notes, or to analyse Donatella’s inspiration for any of her collections. I realise that makes me sound like a bad fashion writer, but what I mean by that is Versace – as a House – has never really clung to trends, especially in menswear. This new collection is proof of that.

Lacey lingerie, baggy leather trousers, oversized animal print, lots of double breasted shapes straight from the 80s and graffiti-marked jackets and trousers. All in a days work for Donatella.

Oh dear God, those suits are just insane. Another Versace collection I’m obsessed with.

Next year you’ll see me in only suits, if you don’t mind.
