Compensation

Being a slight feminist myself, I obviously have something to say about the recent coverage on rape victims and their reduced compensation...

The weirdos at the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) believe that if a woman victim is drunk when she is raped then she will receive lower levels of compensation, somehow implying that the woman is responsible for being attacked when a 'good night out' is usually the only desired result. The whole thing is barbaric!

One woman in an interview with the Guardian, who was raped 4 years ago, was told that her compensation would be lowered by 25% from £11,000 to £8250 because she had been drinking. After receiving a letter from the CICA stating that "
The evidence that we have shows that your excessive consumption of alcohol was a contributing factor in the incident" she felt instead of the sympathy she deserved all she received was a 'slap in the face' by the system.

It definitely begs one question... when men are arrested for rape, should their jail sentence's be made longer if THEY where drunk when attacking?? I think we know the answer now!

Typical English?
