Stylefinder.com's 'face to watch', vogue.com's first lady of online TV, the face of new e-tailer Very.co.uk and presenter for E! - is it me or does Louise Roe have her fingers in all sorts of delicious fashion pies? And this fashionista is good. Really good. There are certain ladies of fashion who don't really know much, instead they are fed a load of waffle to repeat parrot style (sorry, I don't name and shame), but Louise has her own ideas, her own opinions and above all, her own thoughts on the fashion industry.
I caught up with the lovely lady to ask a few fashiony questions just before she flew to Greece...for work. God forbid she had a holiday!
The Very: When did you realise you had a love for all things fashion? Was it a case of simply 'growing' into it? Or was there a defining moment?
Louise: Since I was tiny, about five I think, I was putting outfits together on the bed for the next day. I wouldn't let mum dress me at all apparently.
The Very: Can you remember the first item you bought for your wardrobe without the help of your mum?
Louise: Yes - grey leather pixie boots with a red lining, which I wore with spotty leggings. They could actually look quite cool again today if I still had them!
The Very: In relation to fashion, if you could live in any era which would it be and why?
Louise: Definitely the 70s. I love the muted tones - browns, oranges, mustards and creams. Halston and Biba are two of my favourite labels and the whole silhouette - high waisted trousers, jumpsuits, flicked-out hair - was very sexy but in a demure way.
The Very: What is the best outfit you own?
Louise: I've got a beautiful floor-length Issa dress in green and gold. It's so comfy and easy to wear but is quite bohemian and dramatic too: very Talitha Getty!
The Very: Tell me something that no one would know about you?
Louise: I'm a real geek. I love reading poetry; Sylvia Plath is one of my favourites, very dark, but beautiful too.
The Very: In our celebrity saturated world so many people have style icons, have you got any?
Louise: They're all fairly retro - Talitha Getty as above, Brigitte Bardot, Mia Farrow, Lauren Hutton, all in their heyday.
The Very: Vivienne Westwood once said that we, as a society, should stop buying into 'throw away fashion' such as Primark etc. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think investing in more expensive pieces is the best idea?
Louise: Yes I do. Not that you have to spend a fortune, but I think the idea of slowing down the shopping process so you actually plan what you want to buy, or at least imagine three outfits the purchase will go with - completely validates the spend and you'll get more wear out of it.
The Very: If you HAD to wear one designer for the rest of your life, who would it be and why?
Louise: Marchesa. The artistry is incredible, as are the colours. Ball gowns for red carpets, kaftans for the beach and lower-key dresses from their Notte line for work - perfect!
The Very: I'm not sure if you believe in reincarnation, but if you do, what one wardrobe staple would you come back as?
Louise: I'd rather be a knock-out frock than a staple. Something insane from Giles' or Gareth Pugh's collections...a show-stopper, preferably with spikes.
The Very: What's next for Louise Roe?
Louise: I'm off to Greece to film The Perfect Catch, a new show I'm hosting for E!. Then it's off to NY and London for fashion week, I can't wait.
