A good film musical is hard to come by. There have been a few in recent years; the love story of Moulin Rouge, the hysterical size difference between Catherine Zeta Jones and Renee Zellweger in Chicago, the politics of Rent, the unforgettable combined voice's of Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson and many a wig and sequin gown in Dreamgirls and not forgetting the so-wrong-its-right cheese of Mamma Mia! This year we have another treat - Nine. Not that I've seen yet (it's out mid-December), but judging by the cast it looks to be a real goodun! It tells the story of Guido Contini as he confronts a mid-life crisis with creative (he is a world famous film director) and personal problems.
Please prepare yourself for the cast list, it's IMMENSE. Here goes...
Daniel Day-Lewis (as Contini)
Marion Cotillard (his wife)
Penelope Cruz (his mistress)
Nicole Kidman (his film star muse)
Judi Dench (his confidant and costume designer)
Kate Hudson (an American fashion journalist)
Fergie (whore from his youth)
and Sophia Loren (his mother)
I literally can not wait.
Have a look at the trailer and then tell me you're not as excited as I am... www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_5_lzags3I
