It's a dangerous business, sale shopping. In the past I've been screamed at, barged, prodded, shoved. Only once have I experienced a slightly humane sale shopping experience - it was in the much coveted Selfridges sale, I was with my mother and I was scouting the shelves for a fierce pair of heels for her and a lovely lady, a fellow shopper, actually HANDED me the right size. All other times it's been like stepping into my idea of hell. A lot of angry, determined people with not a lot of stock = bad times. I once walked into Harvey Nics during their sale and there was couture all over the floor. It's just wrong!
However much I dislike the sales though, there is a silver lining. All the dregs that are left, you know, those pieces that no one really knows how to wear, or those that are a hideous colour, well those are the items I buy. I don't like generic fashion. I quite like to stand alone in my style. I firmly believe that with a little styling and a lot of courage, they will look great. I suppose it's a matter of taste. I don't just buy all the last clothes standing, I'm not a crazy bag man, but I do like the odd 'out-there' item. My advice - wait until the last few days of a sale and wear with confidence.
