Thank you to my friend Jamie for our impromptu Abigail's Party party last night. I'd never seen this hilarious, cringy, brilliant, nasty social satire before and thank God I did! It is pure genius. Written by Mike Leigh in 1977 originally for the stage, the BBC decided to create the television masterpiece version starring Alison Steadman. Apart from her amazing orange dress and the nostalgic so wrong it's right decor, it's so easy to see why this comedy-drama was ranked 11th in the list of the 100 greatest British television programmes. Go and buy it immediately. It's so deliciously wrong you'll love it!
