I'm sorry, is anyone else over the Ugg? To me, they are the Kate Moss of the shoe world; in for ages (perhaps too long?), then they get old (looking) and quite boring. The main reason I am writing this is because on two occasions in the last couple of weeks I have walked past Ugg shops, one in Westfield and one in Bicester village, both with horrible big bouncers and horrible big queues outside. Why oh why are people STILL queueing for them? Have they not realised the high street are copying them to a inch of their lives? Or have they not yet asked a friend or family member visiting the States to pick up a pair, if they must, at a snip of the UK price? What's more, they are rubbish on the ice, smell like damp dog when they are wet and look tired and ragged after a month.
It seems we were, and are, so desperate to buy into the brand that we were/are temporarily blinded from other equally versatile and wearable boots. Granted, we all fell in love with them when they made their debut but is it now time to maybe steer towards another boot trend? Like Vivienne Westwood pirate boots maybe? - comfy, amazing and hard-wearing (and cheaper...in the sale). Let's stop being lazy, let's stop reaching for the tired old Uggs and broaden our boot collection.
Just a thought.
