I often sit down of a morning during the craziness that is Fashion Week with my Chai tea latte ("hot, and I mean searing hot") ready to see what the designers have given us for the new season. I turn the computer on, listen to it buzzing and bleeping back to life, and have a peruse. You get the designers who play safe, and you get those who think outside the box. Then you get Jeremy Scott.
I've never enjoyed looking at a new collection more than his. Always one to give us a much needed tongue-in-cheek slant to fashion, he delivered once more with fashion mag prints, big bling jewels, conical bras, and cut-out silhouette figures attached to a dress - genius!
In seasons gone by we have seen Scott take absolutely every risk in the book. Last season it was his version of the Flinstones; a mash-up of electric colours and eclectic fashion, so this collection of mostly black pieces was a teeny bit of a surprise, but it's easy to see what he has done, and a bloody clever boy he is too! Having not shown in NYC for a while, he has made this range...very NYC. More than this though, I can see this stuff actually selling. It's more commercial, giving him a wider appeal. I for one would go out right now and buy the 'Style Fashion' knit.
"It takes me back to the 90s, very Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier" commented my fab stylist friend Sophie O. She's right! The high pony's, tight leather dresses and the harlequin corset were amaze. As were my favourite bits: the 'Jeremy Scott' plaque print full skirt jacket, the monochrome bar code men's knit and the incredible dress with the slip as a train held up by the 'Jeremy Scott' hanger.
His fabulously irreverent approach to fashion keeps him fresh and fabulous.
Love you Jeremy!
