Another awards ceremony that is essentially about the talent, but inevitably ends up being ALL about the fashion - and we love it! Much like the Oscars, or the Brits or...any of them really, the red carpet at the Grammys is always one to look out for, and look what we saw last night! Once again, frock world came to life but, for the first time this year, there were some dresses that did neither the red carpet, nor the wearer, any justice.
What's more, it's now not acceptable to have just one outfit, it's all about the multiple dress change just so you can show off your body, your taste, and how many designers sent you free things to wear (Beyonce x3, Gaga x4, Taylor Swift x2). I'm now taking a suitcase to work everyday and nipping to the loo emerging with a fresh outfit on every hour just to keep up, my very own version of To Wong Foo. Jeez!
Let's have a look shall we?
Glee's Lea Michele is the dark horse of fashion it seems - she looks stunning once again in this asymmetric, feathered Romona Keveza number.
Keri Hilson shows us all how to do nude, and Dolce & Gabbana, properly. Super glam!
*sigh* You try hard don't you Mary? I'll give you that. Nice colour on you, shame about the neck line.
Country Carrie looks gorge in Georges Charka. One of the best me thinks!
Pink is quite touch and go, but this multi-tone fishtail gown really looks amaze on her. Statuesque!
Is it me or is Ms. Hudson slimming in front of our eyes? Either that, or this Victoria Beckham frock holds her in in all the right places! You look fierce Jen!
Jesus Britney, what were you thinking? In fact, I don't think you were! TAKE OFF THE NEGLIGEE AND PUT ON THE FROCK LOVE!
Hmmm. Take the waterfall of chiffon away and it's really just a quite slaggy dress. Add the chiffon and it's just as cheap. Sorry Jen.
Bless Shaila Durcal. It just screams old hideous curtains to me. But I love her for trying.
Pure white elegance - Rihanna in a show stopping Elie Saab.
Bey, I'm your greatest fan, not of this dress though. Isn't it a bit 10 years ago? The colour is beautiful on you, but the cut and the weird trim detail is not so good. However, check out her next change below!
Golden couple of the moment! I actually like Katy's Zac Posen dress. A nude hue looks great on her and the flower detail is really pretty. Also a fan of Russell's suit - it's nice to see him in some colour, not just black. And I want those killer boots please!
Above: Gaga arriving in Armani Prive looking every inch the perfect drag queen from another planet.
And below: in the press room after winning in another alien-like get up.
Let's just imagine her fashion range, if she had one, for a moment people; I'm seeing sky high platform heels, angular head gear, couture gowns that are impossible to wear, Gaga's Wig Line and tights that are fully crystallised - BRING IT ON NOWWWW!
Love Adam Lambert. The dressy jacket is as glam as his makeup. In awe of his style a bit, it has to be said.
Bey comparing dresses with Celine Dion (above) and Rihanna.
Celine's is quite clearly the more grown up gown of the two - add some chiffon sleeves for a bit of dignity? J'adore them both!
