This is the view passengers were treated to last Thursday from the window of the 737 jet they were flying in on the way to St. Lucia - a HUGE volcanic eruption. I. Would. Have. Died.
Doesn't it remind you of the pictures from the bombing of Hiroshima? Just jaw-droppingly insane. The 40,000ft mushroom ash cloud came from the Soufriere Hills volcano on the island of Monsterrat which actually became active again in 1995 and has erupted several times since, never to this dramatic degree though.
Just thought I'd share this picture with you - it was taken by one lucky passenger, Mary Jo Penkala, who didn't realise what the cloud was until the pilot notified everyone.
I would have loved to have been on that flight!
