I just wanted to share with you, Veryettes, my favourite pieces from Westwood's autumn winter show on Friday. The quintessentially British designer showed, not so strangely enough for her, quintessentially British designs. It was all classic Westwood drapey, lots of layering for the cold English winter (prediction for this year already - shock horror!). The tone of the collection however was very much party party party. I don't so much mean one of those horrific, cringey office parties, nor am I hinting at a Skins drug fuelled one... this party was more of an English gentry quite-squiffy-let's-cover-up-and-go-for-a-drunk-walk-with-paper-crowns-on-and-silly-drawn-on-moustaches kind of shindig.
There was psychedelic printed tights, more slogan tops, ruffles, asymmetric hem lines, draped neck lines, a party popper clad dress and a model pretend talking on a mobile phone... another relaxed yet versatile collection including all the fun little Westwood details that we've all come to love and yearn for (or is that just me??). The massive, huge, bloody gorgeous squiggle print bag was a favourite of mine, as were the leopard print shoes.
What really caught my attention though were a few of the dresses, especially this romantic floral print number. This, for me, was the wow dress of the collection. A slightly more fitted top half with the cinched in waist, contrasted with the dramatic layered, full skirt worked oh-so-well. I think it's also a case of excellent styling here - the light peach tone of the belt and the casual, possibly not intended, off-the-shoulder look teamed with the clashing tights and shoes make for a dress that no doubt will be seen on the red carpet soon.
A triumph Dame Westwood!
