Hey!

Welcome to The Very Simon G. My blog has been going for nearly a decade, but there ain’t getting away from me just yet! Come in for fashion, fun and everything in between. Enjoy!

The Royals - again!

You know I love a Royal, and I couldn't help but LOVE these recent pictures of the Queen and Prince Philip. The couple are in Halifax at the moment on a nine-day tour of Canada, finishing in Toronto. The trip is to celebrate the centenary of the Canadian Navy and to mark Canada Day.

All sounds very important, but what struck me in these pictures is the Queen's smile! In all the pictures, websites and programmes I've seen of her, her smile looks kind of strained. Here, it looks like she is ACTUALLY smiling for a reason. And this first one of the two of them looking at each other smiling warms my heart a little. Oh god, did I actually just type that? But let me tell you why... they are old (she is 84 and he is 89), and to see an older couple smile in this way, regardless of who they are, is always nice.

Not only that, but I actually think both HRH's look extremely lovely. The Queen looks surprisingly...chic and Prince Philip looks dashing!

I love a Royal!
