Calling all Toy Story and Barbie and Ken fans, you HAVE to take a look at these pictures. Yes, it's Ken doing his best model impression to impress his love, his beau, his life long plastic companion - Barbie! And yes, you would be right in thinking that he is in designer threads. How depressing when you find out that a doll's wardrobe is better than your own!
When I received the invite to see an advanced screening of Toy Story 3 I have to be honest I was dubious. I'd seen the first, along with the rest of the world, and loved it. I by-passed the second, and so I thought I'd give the third a go. Especially when the invite turned up with Barbie and Ken emblazoned on the front!
It was actually a very funny film with lots of adult humour. Definitely worth a trip to the cinema for. There were times too, and it seems quite strange to say this about an animation with toys as the focus, when the story line had a good ol' tug at the heart strings.
ANYWAY to get back to the point... KEN IN COUTURE EVERYONE!
The wonderful people at Esquire magazine have really embraced the not-taking-fashion-too-seriously side of the industry with this amazingly cute shoot. The magazine invited some of the most celebrated designers to design a 'little' something for Ken for the 6-page shoot shot at Model Village.
Jason Katz, story supervisor for the film, commented that:“It’s impossible not to have fun with Ken and to take him as far as you can. He’s this wonderfully insecure kind of guy. We’ve played him as a mid-eighties California beach guy who’s very handsome but incredibly shallow and awkward.”
What a great shoot! Would have loved to of been a fly on the wall. Maybe next time!
