I did warn you that shoes will be taking over, and here is the second installment...
Selfridges. That big yellow British institution. We relate the mega-store with spending, spending and more spending. The world's leading designers under one roof. And now, thank God, home to the largest shoe department in the world! I took a trip down over the weekend to check it out so far (there are still several mini shoe boutiques to open), and I can now report... OMGorgeous! It's a dangerous, dangerous place for anyone with a penchant for footwear, so be warned. To put it into perspective, I read that some of the plinths that hold the most expensive shoes cost a whopping 2000 squid to make. With a pair of shoes worth probably the same sitting on top, you get the picture!
I've built it up so much now, you're probably expecting loads of pictures. Unfortunately I could only manage to get these two before a shop assistant very sternly told me to put the camera down. Eek!
But don't fear, the Vivienne Westwood shoe exhibition on the ground floor of Selfridges is well documented below, with LOTS of pictures. If you're planning to go, GO, don't procrastinate. It is, for me anyway, a mecca of some of the most beautiful shoes ever (granted, some of the worst too, sorry Dame V), dating back to the 70s and 80s when Viv was barely a house hold name.
If you can't get down there for any reason, I'm so glad to be sharing these with you. Maybe after you'll see why I just can't get enough of the Westwood!
