Before I came to LA I warned my friend Louisa, who I'm staying with, that if I don't go to the Dash boutique (Kim and her sister's clothes shop) while I'm here I might never speak to her again. She listened, thank Christ, and we took a trip down to the middle of nowhere, oops, I mean Calabasas (look it up, it's a bit of a weird place) the second day of my trip. I needed to do it before anything else.
So if you've ever seen Keeping up with Kardashians, and an episode when they film in the store, you'll be forgiven for thinking that it's a massive space. It isn't. The sweet yet clueless girl behind the counter told us that 'ohhh the camera's have like wide lenses'. Thanks for that!
The interior was exactly as I expected. Mirrored counters, rich black fabrics, over the top everything, pictures of all three sisters everywhere, obvs, and Kardashian merchandise for sale that only a silly tourist would buy into... oops, $10 bottle of Kardashian water? Yes please! $40 candle? Erm a bit too much. I have to say though, and I love the Kardashians more than life itself, that the interior of the shop was a bit shoddy. The lighting wasn't great and the ceiling tiles needed a bit of a clean, even maybe a change? It could look a LOT fiercer and more, well, Kardashian-ready with a bit of a make over.
The stock screamed a Kardashian sister. Uber tight, ultra sexy, extra curvaceous dresses that are SO Kim, longer length, maxi shapes that Khloe rocks and floaty, loud colours that Kourtney suits best. There was a lot of their Bebe line too, which took hints of Herve Leger and Balmain. The Wild Fox collection that they stock was casual-gorge too.
Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take pictures of individual pieces, any of the stock in fact, but that didn't stop me. I needed to show ya'll, so I turned sneaky... it was just a case of taking the pics when Jennifer, the sales assistant who did no assisting, was busy on her iphone!
