If ever there was a cool kid in the fashion industry, Jeremy Scott is he. Season after season Scott portrays his sense of humour through his clothes on the catwalk, and season after season we are left with big smirks on our faces.
He knows he doesn't reach out to everyone, but instead of thinking: 'I'm limiting my market and audience', he goes full steam ahead with fashion fun in an 'I'm making people happy' kinda way.
Scott is anything but predictable. Yes, there are usually tongue-in-cheek sloganed pieces (this season it's the Coke look-a-like 'Enjoy GOD'), sequins and kooky knitwear in most of his collections, but they are never boring. He's used phone references once again, but I'm not tired of them. His colours clash, but I love it. Do you get where I'm going with this??
I hear Scott's 90s clubbing days and 'Clueless' are inspiration to his autumn/winter collection. It's easy to see. In fact, before I'd read any show notes or reviews, it did remind me of the rave club seeking kids from Camden - the bright dreadlocks, furry clunky shoes and neons (clothes and makeup). I would possibly add 'Valley of the Dolls' to the list, to explain the pill-print fabulous tops!
YES JS, you made me smile once again. I thank you for that. Once again.
