If ever there was a catwalk show that ticked every box for me it has to be Isaac Mizrahi's latest autumn winter 2011 collection, shown at New York fashion week. It included dogs, cake and oh, very pretty clothes!
I stumbled across his new collection by pure accident. I wanted to check out Issa's latest, and being next to each other on the fashion 'register', I clicked onto him instead. Lucky that!
Only recently have I discovered the wonder that is Isaac. Excuse my fashion ignorance won't you? On his brilliant website, www.isaacmizrahiny.com, it tells us that he has won design awards, made a documentary, has a QVC collection, is the creative director of Liz Clairborne New York, produced a clothing and accessory line for Target and has had numerous TV appearances. Including his rather fabulous video content on his blog!!
Amongst all this, his autumn winter 2011 collection, entitled 'CAKE', blew my socks off. Pretty origami bows were a running detail; to the shoulder, the waist and the décolletage, delectable pastels and bolder mustards, blues and greys formed the fun palette.
It looked like a posh high tea with a big injection of the Mizrahi charm and personality. Slight smirks on the models faces were teamed with either just below-the-knee or just above-the-knee lengths. And the best bit of all - COLOURED DOGS AND FANTASTIC CAKES! Everything that Isaac, and myself, loves.
One of my favourite looks, long jumpers over full skirts, made an appearance, as did a few gorgeous red carpet gowns, the grey long-sleeved dramatic dress one of my favourites.
I can't say enough about this collection, I could go on all day (I won't, obvs!). It is, quite frankly, my favourite catwalk show so far. He tells style.com: "I'm just having fun. And I want you to have fun when you come to my show." He did a brilliant job at that.
