Hey!

Something for the men... Jaiden rVa James

Jaiden rVa James first became apparent to me last year, autumn winter, when I attended their catwalk show, as part of the MAN collective.

I have to say I was scared. Heavy black leather, buckles, lots of buckles, wedge thigh high boots, gimp-like masks - the lot. But scared as I was, I also admired the two London born designers for sending such directional pieces down the catwalk. And by the end of the show, I had somehow talked myself into a pair of those wedges.

A hop skip and a seasonal jump to spring summer 2011 and the boys have adopted another direction all together. A softer, more digestible collection. You may have seen my post on the gorge jackets Wolf and Badger have to offer, the first with that distinctive Greek/Roman-esque toile de jouy print to it (even though it's French in origin), well it's a favourite design of mine, and Jaiden rVa James have done some too.

The boys have decided to only show off two looks from their spring summer 2011 collection, before they unveil the whole lot, and judging by these pieces I'm fash-gagging for more!

The design duo say of their SS collection: "Toile de Jouy was the perfect print and conjured images of the early to mid 90’s of another sub culture, the rave movement where conspicuous consumption and logo mania was at its peak".

Of the choice of hues, they said: "The colour palette is quite subtle with different shades of purple, blue, red and black. We wanted to use shades, tones and colours that boys would actually feel free and comfortable to wear."

A bold move on from their Edward Scissorhand inspired autumn winter collection. I've fallen in love, head over heels.
