Actually, the only way to appreciate John Rocha is to touch and feel his clothes, but alas the blogging world hasn't quite got to reaching into your screen yet, so for now it will have to be up close.
To get the opportunity to view John Rocha's autumn winter 2011 collection topped last week off for me. Of all the London shows over fashion week, John Rocha's show, for me anyway, is often the most whimsical. You really do feel like you're going on a journey. Last season it was that of the traveller, this season it's the landscapes of Iceland.
Rocha likes textures, God does he love to mix them up. His new collection fuses heavy wools, tweeds, some sheer and crochet - something Rocha goes back to time and time again. The thing that got me about these pieces is their weight - OMG, they are heavy heavy heavy. The models did a good job. But, more than anything, the weight of the clothes is a direct metaphor for John Rocha's weight in the fashion industry.
I now would like every piece from his menswear collection too. The crochet panels on shirts and the furry jackets are simply gorgeous. The studded footwear isn't too bad either!
Enjoy!
