Hey!

Fine art + Christian Louboutin = ONE GENIUS CAMPAIGN

I wasn't kidding when I said expect amazing things from Louboutin back in April was I? After going to their press day for autumn winter, I came away stunned, STUNNED I tell you with one of the most covetable collections from the shoe master to date. Note in the pictures below the shoulder bag with built in feather shoulder-piece I was talking about!

And this campaign once again shows just how pioneering the red-soles are. Les Promises De L'Hiver (The Promised Winter??) is a collaboration between Mr Louboutin and utterly original photographer Peter Lippmann (you MUST check out his work, jaw-droppingly brilliant). Now I'm not an art connoisseur by any means, I'm always a little nervous commenting on artwork actually because quite honestly I don't know much about that world, but even I can appreciate these portraits.

Let me quote from the press release, to paraphrase might not be sufficient:

The designer worked with photographer Peter Lippmann to
create portraits inspired by iconic works of art chosen for their
insight into the diverse qualities...
The historic models depicted within the gallery embody the
spirit of the Christian Louboutin woman; each portrait acts as
a setting for key creations from the upcoming collection
twinned with the artist who's individual technique and subject
defines their distinct character.

To mix fashion and art in this way is satirical, ironic, tongue in cheek with something strangely serious too. It puts the product on a pedestal - your eye is bent towards the shoe or the bag, although the main focus is the extraordinary portraits. It's all just so... OMG! Can't really describe it in any other way!

Artists such as James McNeil, Marie-Guilleme Benoit, Francois Clouet and Jean-Marc Nattier are sent up in Lippmann and Louboutin's genius 'works of art'.

Enjoy! I still am!!
