Haute Couture Heaven: Giambattista Valli, get in my wardrobe!

I'm swooning. As I write, I'm swooning. The haute couture shows always do this to me, it's all so exciting. The chance for designers, young and old, to really show off; use materials they wouldn't normally, step away from ready-to-wear and channel all energies in creating a collection of uber fabulous, one off pieces. Giambattista Valli, in his first couture show ever, completely set the catwalk alight, and has made me swoon with every dress. Have I said swoon enough? Swoon swoon swoon Valli swoon.

Anyway. In the past Valli's ready-to-wear collections have, in some way, all verged on the edge of couture in that his constant precision detailing and amazing cocktail dresses all look like special one-off pieces that couture is all about. However, in this, his first couture show, he's pulled out all the stops. There was many an ostrich feather, lots of appliqués, long long trains of pink and black froth and billowing chiffon capes that make me gasp with delight!

In short, bring on the red carpets! DVF may be the queen of wrap dresses, but Valli, it seems, is king of the cocktail and WOW dresses. Who else can see J Lo in that white belted number with big shoulders (reminiscent of 'that' red hot Gucci dress of a few weeks ago)?? And I'd LOVE to see Miss Huntington-Whiteley in that slinky leopard print gown. I can even see Jane Fonda in that black to-the-floor dress equipped with white cape. YUM! OMG I can't wait to see these on the red carpets.

A beautiful, triumphant first venture into couture Mr. Valli. Anyone think it wrong to want to see that last black gown, the fountain of black feathers, on a bride??
