Call me vile, but I don't 'do' vintage. It's just not really my style. However I do appreciate the general love everyone has over clothes that have generally been around longer than 20 years (this officially makes them vintage, am I right?). For one, you'll more than likely be the only person to have a particular piece, generic doesn't really cut the vintage mustard so to speak. And it gives you the chance to really express yourself, through the different eras of dress. Mmmm, old smelling clothes, nothing quite like it!
Anyway, I was down at the Vintage festival at the Southbank on Friday filming for Fashot.tv and I spotted these three ladies in particular. The first because her weirdly cute Harry Potter-esque look coupled with vintage squiggle print Vivienne Westwood made for some ironic viewing. Laura's dress took my fancy, not least for it's shirt-dress-maxi-length-belted loveliness, but also because with it's polka dot print, it's the perfect dress to take from summer to autumn! (it turned out Laura was a buyer for Primark and ended up taking a picture of MY t-shirt, so if a Dolly tee springs up in one of their collections, blame me!) And the third woman I became a bit obsessed with. She looked like she'd stepped straight off the Titanic (before it's demise, obviously!). So well put together, and even holding herself like a true Edwardian. The fur stole, hat and handbag added to the her magic.
And the last picture is of me, wearing my only piece of vintage... my pride and joy Dolly Parton t-shirt. I look a bit tired in this picture, so ignore the bags!!
Enjoy!
