It isn't everyday that you get invited backstage to one of your favourite designer's catwalk shows, is it? Not for me anyway. So when Holly Fulton's PR offered me a glimpse into what happens before the show goes up, I jumped at the chance. How could I not? Me... the person who wax lyricals (is that a word?) every season about how Holly's signature aesthetic and general print fabulousness basically gets me smiling for the rest, or lead up, to fashion week.
For next season, autumn winter 2012, Holly Fulton takes her lead from Lady Chatterley - or more importantly her picking up the gardener along the way, according to her show notes.
Back stage was, as always is for any designer and any show, hectic. Make up artists running from one model to the other, models running away from people eating bread, and people eating bread running to sort out the clothes or to polish the amazing clutch bags.
There was a very structured colour palette for the season; pink, turquoise blue and grey. Avid Fulton fans know that she usually loves a bit of a citrus injection, so it was a surprise not to see any yellows or oranges. That's not to say I was disappointed though. Oh no. Far from it.
Big furry bags, butterfly embellishments and prints, slim leg silk trousers that give the illusion of a much longer leg and turtle necks, which I usually find very frumpy but in this case looked chic and well placed, all made up the collection.
Once again, it was a blast. I just wish I saw her clothes on more people. Come on ladies, show it off!!
