Hey!

Welcome to The Very Simon G. My blog has been going for nearly a decade, but there ain’t getting away from me just yet! Come in for fashion, fun and everything in between. Enjoy!

How the media get it SO wrong sometimes...

Poor Eva Longoria. Poor us.

Two stories about the Desperate Housewives star circulated yesterday on two of my morning must-read websites, Just Jared and the Daily Snail Mail, both showing the actress in the same long, grey, body-hugging maxi dress and rather gorgeous necklace. Both stories COMPLETELY opposite.

The Mail's headline read: 'Glum Eva Longoria struggles to raise a smile...', and Just Jared's story starts with: 'Eva Longoria looks like she's in a good...'. For God's sake, what are we to believe??

It's no secret that media outlets bend the truth for a good story, heck, that's what sells papers and magazines these days (or drives traffic), but are we seriously meant to believe anything that's written anymore when it comes to celebrities? (rhetorical question)

Good, hard, factual journalism is fine. If it's based on truth and is fully backed up, we can't argue. When an over eager pap sells his/her wares, it's up to the over eager editor of said websites to pick which they use to illustrate their feature, which is more often than not plucked out of thin air. Fine. By all means chose the moody ones, but I'll tell you the probable set of events:

Just Jared: Eva steps out of her car all happy, thinking she can't wait to go and have a £50 salad in whatever restaurant she's heading for, she's happy when she hands over the keys to the valet. She's even happy, I suspect, when the valet accidentally bashes the door (made up!).

Daily Mail: (10 minutes earlier) Eva's all happy as she sings, at the top of her voice, to Cher's Greatest Hits (made up!) as she pulls into the petrol station. As she gets out her Bentley she spots the pap, who's furiously snapping away, capturing Eva's sudden mood change when she spots her camera stalker. MONEY SHOT!

Trust me, I'm not sensitive to celebrities who moan about the paparazzi - you wanna be a star? Then you gotta take the sh*t - but it's when we, the reader, who is given two equally rubbish stories that bare no relevance to what is ACTUALLY going on.

SOMEONE'S LYING!!

Ahh, the good old mixed media messages. We love to hate it all, but really it's quite annoying.
