One of the highlights for me in Paris was attending Jean Paul Gaultier's men's spring summer 2013 collection presentation. Off we went to his atelier - a most impressive building that smelt of his signature fragrance even before entering.
For next summer, the JPG man is back from his sailing trip to India. The print above was seen in a few pieces... it's a rather amazing one, don't you think? It even features the JPG sailor, his synonymous icon.
There was hand-stitched Indian beads, embroidery and intricate lace detail to tie in with the theme.
I think this kind of presentation - live models coming in and out of the room and big rails of the clothes on display - is the future of fashion shows. It's SO much calmer and less stressful. No late editors flying in in a flurry!
Talking about the models, what a brilliant casting job. Tall, commanding men sported the collection, in it's different guises, all complete with turbans. The waxed trench coats and that draped-to-perfection tuxedo jumpsuit where my favourites.
Oh, and the stripes, obviously the stripes. No Jean Paul Gaultier collection would be complete without a camp sailor stripe. And that's why we love him!
