On my recent jaunt to Paris for men's fashion week I came across a new rather amazing label - Laurence Airline.
Laurence Buthaud's collections are all produced on the Ivory Coast, where she also lives. The African print pieces are put together by locals at the 'Laurence Airline workshop [which] serves as a pole of creation and a centre for teaching couture sewing techniques'.
A brand steeped in local and ethical backing gets a thumbs up from me (like Westwood's Ethical Fashion Africa collection). Buthaud's pieces make Burberry Prorsum's Africa prints look amateur. These are the real deal.
Longer in length and cut on the oversized, Laurence Airline really does channel African culture to the core. Ain't no plain shirts here. Every shirt I picked up I gasped at... it's all just... SO ME!
And, what's more, this first shirt, what I like to call the flagship piece of the collection, features a little Dachshund... you can imagine my delight. It's a sign. I should be buying ONLY Laurence Airline from now on.
At the moment, there are no stockists in this country, but take a look at the website to find out more!
