Hey!

Blog Off: Joan Smalls in Givenchy...

There's really only two models out of the new 'it crowd' who, no matter what they wear, I love unconditionally. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Joan Smalls. Both smouldering, sexy, gorgeous creatures.Whoever said a model can wear a black bin bag and make it look couture was so so right. Not that Joan's Givenchy autumn/winter 2013 look reminded me of a bin bag, quite the opposite. Here she is at Thursday night's amfAR Gala in Cannes. But what do some blogger mates think of Joan's look? Here's what...Joan Smalls givenchy amfar gala cannes film festival

Well, this is certainly a bold look! I'm not the biggest fan of this outfit I have to say. At the risk of sounding about as adventurous as the Duchess of Cambridge it's frankly a little weird. That said, Joan just about makes it work. Further proof that a) if you're a super model you really can wear anything and b) life's not fair.

Normally Joan Smalls can do no wrong in my eyes, the girl has innate good style, but I'm struggling a bit with this take on sheer... It looks a little like she's nipped out to do the school run in her nightie and has grabbed the nearest top to make her half decent. Each piece on its own is gorgeous, I'm just not convinced the combo rocks like it should.

SHE looks amazing - the hair, the makeup, her figure. The OUTFIT however looks completely stupid. This is a classic case of 'The Emperor has no clothes' - this curtain netting trend needs to stop immediately. And that jumper-dress - without the waist-belt giving it some shape, is basically a Fruit of the Loom pyjama top!

***And moi...***

Obviously I'm going to love this. It's fashion drama in its most modern form. It's also one look that I've tried to push on every single woman I know - that whole comfy jumper over a fabulous (sheer or not) skirt. It makes for a gorgeous silhouette. Thank God for Joan. Thank God for Givenchy. Ever since seeing this on the catwalk all those months ago, I've been obsessed with it, and DESPERATE to see it on a red carpet. It's absolutely amazing.

Who do YOU agree with??

Yours truly, The VSG x
