My mother actually called me a bridezilla. She actually muttered that B word to me.Me, the most laid back person I know. It was a few weeks back now during a rather heated debate about venue choice and catering I think. I'm going to pass it off as a moment of hysteria on her part. So yeah, I've demanded Liza Minnelli sing us down the aisle and that we have black roses flown in from South Africa, but what bride doesn't ask for these things? Does that make me a bridezilla?OK, so the Liza bit was a joke (obviously I'm DYING for her to sing us down the aisle though), but I have actually researched into the flowers and they are indeed only available from a tiny village in South Africa. I'm temped, but still not a bridezilla, right? I've allowed her to have her own guest list longer than Santa's annual present list and I'M THE BRIDEZILLA? Hmmm.On the whole, I think we're doing remarkably well actually. There's been tears, tantrums and tiaras - no no, sorry, no tiaras, it just sounded right, like one of those TV shows - but I feel like we're much less stressed now.So here's what we've sorted out so far:- Venue is booked (will update you fully soon)- Caterers are booked (will update you fully soon)- My suit has been bought and is hanging up - it's Versace, but you'll have to wait and see which one- Save The Date emails have been sent (well, his have, mine haven't - I'm nothing if not fabulously fashionably late)- I've now bought him his engagement ring (he proposed with mine, and I wanted to get him one too. It's from Louis Vuitton. I can no longer afford to eat)- We have spoken to a florist and have come up with amazing ideas (will update you fully soon) And here's what needs to be sorted:- An actual food tasting (nearer the time)- Colours of the lights around the venue- Buying his suit - he has seen what he wants but won't be in store until August (will update you soon)- Decide on the physical invites - we have two in mind which are equally amazing. We had one mocked up but hated it in the end (will update you fully soon)- We need to do a site visit with florist in order to see how the room will be dressed then decide on either the super chic and super expensive black roses or... plastic ones? (ewwww)- Book a photo booth (we have one in mind)- Probably a million more things I've forgotten I feel calm. More importantly the other half feels calm too. We still have seven months to go, so I'm sure nearer the time there'll be some stress, but right now everything is going to plan. The invite debacle was a bit of a ball ache though. Basically I found an invitation company outside of London (I won't name names just yet, I don't want her being stoned or spat on by you lot) who quoted almost a quarter of the price of some companies in London. She sent some PDF proofs back and forth, very slowly may I add, and when we thought we had finally got there, she offered to send a real-life sample (for a £10 charge) which obviously we agreed on.Baring in mind this all took about three months to action. Her communication was SHOCKING. I mean, short of her having a battery operated router or one powered by a hamster on its wheel, there's really no reason to be so slow. It was very frustrating.Anyway, we received the sample and without sounding too harsh... it was shit. The paper was wrong, things were missing and it was sloppy. Whoever said you get what you pay for is oh-so right. Good work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't good people. Take note. What makes it worse is that I haven't heard a PEEP out of her since sending us the sample. Someone needs to go back to customer service school, am I right? So a warning to all... things outside of London might be cheaper, but that doesn't mean they're better. Make sure you do your research and get quality samples BEFORE investing loads of time and energy. We have other amazing ideas now for our invite, and are in the process of sourcing quality people to do them. Lesson learned.Anyway, that's my little update/rant for now. I'll be posting lots more in the next few weeks, so stay tuned. And thanks, as always, for reading!
