I've got this thing about luxury fragrances, I just get a bit mesmerized by the work that goes into them, the stories behind them, the packaging that make them look a million dollars and erm, yeah, the actual smell.Penhaligon's know how to do a luxury fragrance. Well, they have been making them since 1872. And Vaara, they're latest family member, is yet another gorgeous triumph. But let me tell you why...Inspired by the Royal House of Marwar-Jodphur in Rajasthan, Vaara is really the outcome of a personal project set by His Highness Maharaja Gaj Singh II. He wanted a scent to commemorate the birth of his granddaughter - Vaara - and also to reflect his family's connection with Jodhpur. This is exactly the kind of story I love in a fragrance!Bertrand Duchaufour, the perfumer set this challenge, traveled to Jodhpur in search of inspiration: local markets and the Maharaja's summer palace provided lots of this inspiration...

It's so hard to describe a fragrance, as you can imagine, so really you MUST go and have a whiff of Vaara. I've been obsessed with it since I very kindly received a sample (it's unisex boys!). It's light, delicate but strong... everything I love about a fragrance. Not too much, but enough to spark questions - "Where's that from? It's amazing".Check out more about Vaara, and Penhaligon's, here...
