I haven't done one of these for a long time, but it's a post that I really enjoy writing. Probably because the bitch in me comes out. But also, it's a chance to look at celebs up close that I wouldn't normally talk about. The American Music Awards are always a red carpet gold mine. If you've seen my previous post with Jennifer Lopez's performance, you'll see also that it's quite a show too. From Heidi Klum to Lady Gaga, there's quite a few to get through... ENJOY!
***Starting her tenure as the Versace poster girl (did you see, she is the new face of the Versace campaign... BYE KATE!), Lady Gaga looked phenomenal in all three of her looks***
The first - her arrival on the human horse - was from the Spring 2014 collection, the stage outfit was a custom made Atelier Versace bodysuit and jacket, and the last look was a fully Swarovski'd vintage Versace gown with front zip. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. And Gaga... is that some surgical tape you've got going on in the first pic? Are you channeling Donatella's face lift? YES! And I love it.
***All white for Christina in Maria Lucia Hohan and Nicole in Pucci***
Obviously their stylists didn't 'converse'. I actually HATE white on a red carpet, however these two do work these dresses. It's so nice to see Christina back in her 'normal' body, however the material is not great and that length.. I hate seeing shoes like that. It should be to the floor. Both have cut outs, which is daring yet chic.
Nicole wins it though. Love the gold accessories.
***Taylor Swift in Julien Macdonald***
Does the 'good girl' of pop really have enough conviction for this dress? I just don't believe her in the hair and the frock, although for a teeny mini dress, it's a goodun'!
***Ciara wears J. Mendel***
Usually I love everything she wears, but there's something about this I don't like. I don't think it particularly flatters her to be honest, and all the different lines make it a bit hard to... digest. And where the hell has the weave gone Ciara love? Not loving it.
***Miley in Versus Versace***
I love this I love this I love this. It's covered up but sexy all at the same time. When Miley and her stylist put their heads together, they CAN get it right sometimes!
Although Miley, THOSE SHOOOOOOEEEES! Ergh. They're definite tranny shoes. I wanted to see something fabulous south of your ankles!
***Jaimie Alexander in a vintage Giorgio Armani jumpsuit***
For a woman who shocked the red carpet world by JUST about covering up her bottom and lady garden, this falls a little flat if you ask me. The neckline is amazing, but below the waist I lose interest. It's just not enough, and looks a little grandma-ry on the trouser. Hmmmm. Could do better.
***Ke$ha in Michael Costello***
OK, I HATE the friggin' hair, it's boring and gross. NEW DO PLEASE LOVE.
But I LOVE this dress. It's got something fabulously Angelina about it. Ooo, that's just the leg, but teamed with a full wavy do of deep locks, it would look amazing. This might just be the best she's ever looked, sans crayon hair. And that feels strange to admit. Believe me.
***Kelly Osbourne in Rami Al Ali***
NO. I just don't like it. The length, maybe, but it's just too heavy on her. The arms and bodice look a bit... frumpy? And actually all the tulle and the 50s shape is a bit too prom for me too. For a Fashion Police judge, I expect more. Soz Kel love.
***Naya Rivera in Michael Kors***
If there's one star on this red carpet that knows her body SO well, it's Naya. SHE. LOOKS. FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC. And I usually don't like keyholes, but with the hair and and long sleeves and length, everything is perfectly balanced.
WINNER WINNER WINNER.
***Heidi Klum in Marchesa***
Here's the thing: I love Heidi, I love fringing and I love Marchesa. But something feels missing here. I know this sounds odd, but I don't feel like this dress is as full as it can be. I want more fringing. Bigger. MORE. It is a lovely dress though, and is dainty yet fierce all in one.
***Jennifer Hudson in Christian Dior***
I just think this looks cheap. In fact, everything she's worn recently has been a bit off. I can't put my finger on it though. I hate the hair, and the blue eye shadow, but it's more than that... the horrid shoes and the fit of this dress. JUST NO JENNIFER.
Don't get me wrong, I 'get' the dress. Just not on her. YUK.
***Katy Perry in Oscar de la Renta***
I actually went 'Ahhhh' out loud to this. She looks GREAT! Enough of those silly tiger outfits Katy, this is so so gorgeous on you. It's a proper gown. The fit, the dots, the embroidered flowers, the Olympia Le-Tan bag, the fresh face and big hair.
Another WINNER!
***Rihanna in Jean Paul Gaultier***
It's Rihanna. She can wear what she likes. I happen to love it, others won't.
End of.
