Blog Off Mens: Pharrell Williams in blue Lanvin suit...

Pharrell williams GQ men of the year party blue green lanvin suitOut of all the male musicians in the world, I reckon Pharrell Williams knows fashion much better (and bolder). Well, apart from 2 Chainz obviously, who is always in something fabulous and Versace.Pharrell is forever in designer clobber, and even has two of his own labels: Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream. Remember that army print short suit? That was amazing. And he recently wore a Junya Watanabe patchwork coat for an airport run. What I love about him is that he's up for taking risks, thinking outside the box and making outfits work when really they shouldn't.Here he is on Wednesday at the GQ Men Of The Year party wearing a bluey green double breasted suit, rolled up at the cuffs and trousers, by Lanvin. In fact, he's head-to-toe in Lanvin. But what did some blogger mates think, here's what...

Pharrell knows how to dress but this outfit misses the mark for me. I love the suit, especially the colour but the styling is way off. If you're gonna roll up your trousers, you can't roll up your sleeves too. It looks like its a size too big and the bracelets and watch are overkill. He won't get lucky in that get-up!

This is an example of taking something quite standard - the db suit, albeit in a petrol blue colour, and tweaking it to make it your own. He's rolled the sleeves and cuffs, left off the socks and added a retro looking bow tie and for Pharrell Williams this is as conservative as he gets.

***Joe from 00oo00***

It is a difficult colour to wear. What do you call it? Am I allowed to dabble in fashion if I call that green? I'm not a big fan of "casual-ising" formal wear with the rolled up cuffs and trousers hem. The sockless look with patent shoes just didn't feel natural to me and I've seen Pharrell in amazing styles off duty. The only thing I'm loving is the whimsical looking bow tie. Not my favourite Pharrell look I'm sorry!

Pharrell, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…

1. You’re wearing a teal suit – it’s LUXE with a capital LUXE. It’s uber formal with that silk bow-tie, but somehow relaxed – like Duran Duran on a yacht.

2. It perfectly contrasts with your other half’s berry sweater. No socks, patent shoes = ultra chic.

3. It looks like you just chucked it on, but it’s artfully-styled.

4. Your awesomely ageless face is perfection.

I mean, there’s no WAY I could carry this exact look off, but it IS freaking epic – and might make me consider a bold-hued suit. HEART U Pharrell.

Who do YOU agree with?

Yours truly, The VSG x
