I've always been a HUGE advocate of everything that comes out of the House of JC de Castelbajac. When the shop on Conduit Street closed, it was a sad sad day for London. His bright, tongue-in-cheek, fun campery, and his very visual designs, makes him one of my all time favourites. And as of last year, Jean-Charles ventured into the inter-season arena with, if you ask me, all the aplomb in the world. His kind of novelty, unlike some of Jeremy Scott's, still has some degree of subtlety. This Resort 2015 collection (are we ALREADY there??) has everything his hardcore fans could ask for, and I'm certain will pull a new crowd too.The French Riviera was his starting point - very poignant for a Resort collection as back in the day, the chic Parisian women were exactly who bought into them - and he managed to make it fresh and interesting, with a woven basket design featuring throughout. His famous faces cropped up too, on knits, and the sense of fun came with little joyful colour-blocked beach umbrellas. GENIUS. Birds, something Jean-Charles references a lot in his main line collections, appeared as trims on pockets and nesting on shoulders.JUST LOVE IT ALL. And can't WAIT to see it on 'real' people!
