I've become a fragrance person. I don't know entirely what that means exactly, I just made it up, but in my head it's someone who literally can't go a day without popping into Selfridges or Liberty to have a whiff of something new. Up until now I never really used different fragrances for the seasons, and although I think I'll always spritz loads of Oud throughout the year, I am enjoying finding new 'lighter' smells for the hotter weather. Here are three amazing scents you might want to try this summer...1. Aesop Marrakech Intense:Although this doesn't actually launch until September, I need to talk about it now because, quite frankly, it's amazing. If, like me, you think of Aesop as a brand that is all fresh and earthy smells, this fragrance (a re-work of an old scent) will make you think again. On first smell, you are transported to the country it's named after - heady, strong and Oud-y, but give it a few minutes on the skin and you'll get the rose and jasmine and bergamot that make it a gorgeous choice for those (like me) who like something with a kick. (£53 for 5oml)2. Givenchy Gentleman Only Intense:Another with 'Intense' in the name, although this one is less knock-you-over than the above, and slightly more for the... gentleman! This scent is basically the more 'night time' version of the previously launched Gentleman Only, with added leathery notes. I love the spicy and sweet mix of this one, a great fragrance for your summer hols (be warned, you'll want to keep spraying!).3. Penhaligon's Bayolea:OMG never have I been so taken with a citrus fragrance like this one. Basically Bayolea, although a scent, has been transformed from an old archive fragrance to Penhaligon's first full men's grooming range, consisting of all your essentials (click here to see). Back to the fragrance... spray it once and you'll immediately get the zesty hit of the perfect lemongrass, mandarin and tangerine, spray it twice and you'll discover the woody, musky hints, and spray it three times (or just smell it on your wrist again and again) and you'll be as obsessed with it as I am. And I don't usually do anything this fruity. This is a must-have!
Yours truly, The VSG x
