I have my friend Gurd to thank for this one. Whenever we meet in central London, the first thing we do is head to Liberty to have a spritz. We inevitably come out smelling like massive bouquets of flowers (or with me, just the Middle East, with my Oud obsession). On our latest trip to Liberty, he introduced me to Agonist Parfums, in particular SOLARIS, one of the Swedish brand's newest scents.'It's not very you!' he said. And he's right. Ordinarily a fruity, zingy fragrance like this wouldn't be my kind of thing, but something triggered my senses, and I ended up loving it.As you can see, the bottle and label (the whole range is presented the same way) are very Swedish in their clean aesthetic, listing all notes/ingredients. But don't for a minute think Agonist's fragrances are the same. They are heady and layered. We are told on the Agonist site that: SOLARIS is inspired by the vibrant midnight sun that never sets during summer in the north. Fresh, citrusy and warm with a spheric roundness in the transitions of the notes, makes this fragrance as magical as the never ending sunsets.I told you it was citrusy: pink grapefruit, lemon and green mandarin are some of its top notes. SOLARIS hits you in the face, but quickly settles to release its other ingredients. It really is a gorgeous scent, and very unisex.Available in store at Liberty or here at Selfridges.
