It's award season... blah blah blah.I'm not going to do a whole spiel about the Grammys, I'm convinced no one reads it anyway. We're all more interested in who looked amaze, who looked alright, and who, quite frankly, looked shite. So, here are some of the red carpet looks from last night's Grammy Awards...
*The Drama Mamas*
These two women KILLED it! You can just hear the gay gasps around the world, can't you? Rihanna, with her no-fuss makeup and hair, was the stand-out on the red carpet in her frothy Giambattista Valli couture gown, and Ciara went all architectural in Alexandre Vauthier couture. WINNERS!
*The ladies in black*
For me, Beyonce could have done better. That's not to say her Proenza Schouler gown wasn't amazing, because the detail on it was exquisite, I just want her in something dramatic. Jessie J, just YES! She's wearing Ralph & Russo (my favourite couture house right now). For once Kelly Osbourne is on the best dressed list! Her vampy Christian Siriano gown was incredible. Her body looks sensational in this. Nicki Minaj in Tom Ford, another winner! Her boobs are forever on show, we're over that, but this is semi-demure for Nicki. Fabulous fringing! And Miley Cyrus, in Alexandre Vauthier couture, works grown-up sex for all it's worth. Well done gurrrl!
*What gems!*
The jewel tones were there too... Jane Fonda, who, quite frankly, should be top of everyone's best dressed at every event she attends, stuns in this green Balmain jumpsuit. SHE'S 77 YEARS OLD FOR GOD'S SAKE! Taylor Swift, in Elie Saab, bought drama, colour and her usual youthfulness. She is quite predictable, but looked good all the same. And Zendaya, with new crop, in Vivienne Westwood. STUN.NING! The colours, the stripes, the one-shoulder, the slit. Just perfect!
*Shine on!*
All eyes were on Kim Kardashian. This Jean-Paul Gaultier couture dress was...simply... breathtaking. Love or loath Kim, you have to admit she looked incredible. Katy Perry's Zuhair Murad couture dress, although tasseled and gorgeous, was a little... pedestrian (can I call a couture gown pedestrian?) for me. We're used to her OTT-ness. Same goes for Lady Gaga actually. I'm shocked she didn't wear Versace, this is Brandon Maxwell. I actually think this dress is quite naff. Don't love it. And Rita Ora, who chose Prada, didn't delight either. I love glitter ball dressing, but I don't think this fits her well at all, she looks very up-and-down. Not a fan.
*The Versace girls*
You can always rely on Gwen Stefani and Ariana Grande to fly the Donatella flag. Just look at them! Gwen chose this stand-out jumpsuit from the new couture collection, which she modified with the ruche at the ankle. Then later, whilst performing, she wore this red atelier gown. Another incredible move. And Ariana was definitely the best in white on the red carpet. OMG this girl! This dress! Fitted, playful, young enough, old enough. Pure perfection.
*And then there was Madonna*
Mad old Madonna. For God's sake woman, DRESS PROPERLY!!! Enough of this crap. It's not good. And not pretty. And not even funny. It's worrying! She looks like she has escaped from the loony bin! SOMEONE PUT HER BACK!
