I consider myself quite knowledgable about fashion designers - I try and stay on top of all the emerging talent as well as the established houses. But the wave of Russian designers who are having a (hopefully long long long) moment have only really just hit me.
Vika Gazinskaya's Spring Summer '15 has hit me hard.
After reading up on this Moscow-based designer, it's clear to see her thing is illustrations, self-penned illustrations, and also playing with volume, asymmetry and tailoring. All of this tied up with soft femininity - shapely cuts, long lines and the showing off of some skin.
For SS15 - which is available to buy right now from Avenue32, Mytheresa.com and Net-A-Porter - it was the styling of Vika's look book, along with the amazing hand-drawn paisley prints, fabulous tailoring and spaghetti straps that have stolen my heart.
And what's the best way of selling your own brand? BY WEARING IT. And Vika does this like an absolute pro. She was spotted during fashion week in September wearing this collection, really WOW moments. Obviously she was snapped to death by street styling photographers. Scroll down to see Vika in her own designs. Here's more from the SS15 look book...
