Bless Heidi Klum. I don't think she's quite grasped the whole size zero debate yet, even though we are about 2 years into it and possibly even coming out the other end.
The German beauty said of the phenomenon: "A size zero? I've never heard of that. That didn't exist when I was growing up. When did that start? What does it mean?" Well, what it means Heids is when models decide to starve themselves in the name of, what they call, fashion. It means we are subject to looking at brittle neck and hip bones instead of fabulous couture. It MEANT that eventually the craze trickled down to us normal people and now we are left with emaciated youths walking round like puncture lilos! In short, it means that its really not nice.
However, this season's fashion weeks have proved that the industry might be on a turn. Thanks to the likes of, for example, Vivienne Westwood who sent Jo Wood down her catwalk and Pam Hogg who had Jamie Winstone and Daisy Lowe, we are now seeing more 'healthy' looking models grace the shows. Granted they are 'celebs' rather than 'models', there was still signs of proper models at a lot of the shows who looked less gaunt than their counterparts in previous years. In fact the organisers behind Madrid Fashion week were reported to have introduced a ban on all skinny models and if a teeny model turned up, they would class her as unhealthy and send her on her skinny-way. Thank god for that!
