Hey!

Welcome to The Very Simon G. My blog has been going for nearly a decade, but there ain’t getting away from me just yet! Come in for fashion, fun and everything in between. Enjoy!

The 'very' best bits from Fash Week so far... day two

It's all go go go in London at the moment lovely reader, and I'm not just talking about the Pope. In fact, it's got nothing at all to do with the Pope (apart from all the road closures!). Fashion Week is well under way! I've seen hundreds of pairs of fabulous heels walking trenches up and down The Strand, thousands of bottles of Vitamin Water being sipped in between shows and millions of cigarette butts being trampled on by eager young models running to hair and makeup.

In between all that, I've seen a few fair bits that have caught my eye. Here goes...

Wondering around the exhibition rooms of Somerset House (the gorgeous base for London Fashion Week) I stumbled across Iannis Dimitrousis. He shared the room with the new collection from Jean Pierre Braganza and I actually mistook his creations for Braganza's, saying out loud to a friend that "I hadn't seen these pieces at the Braganza show". Next thing I know a little bald man is saying hello to me, and introduces himself - Ioannis Dimitrousis - "Hi. These are mine. I design and make them". I was really taken aback by their beauty. I'm not even sure these pics do the pieces (that's exactly what they are, pieces, not dresses) justice, to view them in person is a much better idea.

Ioannis has used crocheting and fringing in a lot of his previous collections and this, his most recent, followed suit. The tubular heart designs and the bottom fringed sections are just so intricately constructed that they draw you in, you end up reaching out to touch and feel. STUNNING!

Charlie le Mindu, the 'Haute Coiffure', wowed us all with another bizarre yet mesmerizing yet mad yet amaze collection. His collections are not particularly seasonal, they just, well, are what they are. Today's show was uber-busy with every club freak around. Standing ticket only for yours truly but that was fine by me, standing got the best view! Have a look. The Farrah Fawcett-style long pink 'do' is my fav. The full frontal female nudity was a shocker... for me anyway!

More to come soon lovely reader...
