Hey!

Welcome to The Very Simon G. My blog has been going for nearly a decade, but there ain’t getting away from me just yet! Come in for fashion, fun and everything in between. Enjoy!

Let me get my OMGs out the way:

OMG Holly Fulton

OMG Moschino Cheap & Chic

That’s pretty much what I’ve been saying ever since Saturday. The two shows have been amongst my favourites from my boohoo.com sponsored fashion week.

Holly has taken her first ever trip to LA as inspiration for her sugary sweet spring summer 2013 collection. As you might know, her art deco prints and strong seasonal motifs make Holly one of my favourite of all British designers. Ever since she referenced Joan Collins a few seasons ago, she’s always got a place in my fashion heart.

Roses were it for next summer, be it sequined, 3D roses or printed ones, she couldn’t get enough. Mix with them some naked pin up girls and some signature Fulton high-rise art deco designs on blouses, skirts, dresses and trousers and you’ve got your wardrobe sorted. Loved every minute.

When I say pineapples you say Moschino – PINEAPPLES…

Yup, Cheap & Chic showed off it’s playful side once again with a collection packed with Copacabana punch. Bright colours on buttoned up jackets, bell bottom trousers, blouses and a pair of metallic dungarees that made Alexa Chung (erghh) wince with happiness in her front row seat.

The bags made me gasp. A note book clutch, big checker board shoulder bags worn in a very Victoria Beckham grasped way and shoulder bags in cut out shapes of pineapples and a glass jar. Just wow.  And I don’t usually abide trainers, but somehow they worked with these clothes.

I can’t wait to see this collection in stores. I’m not sure the Very Mummy G could pull it off quite like this season’s eye prints, but I’m sure she’ll try.

Other highlights from day two include:

Daks’ voluminous blouses…

Sister by Sibling’s Day Glo mission with sequined pop art ‘S’s, leopard print and knit fabulousness…

Marques ' Almeida's cool-girl dark green unfinished denim, dripping lilac tulle, towelling and stitched on stars…

And House of Holland’s big jewelled beanie hats and clutches…

London Fashion Week: Day Three...

Anna Dello Russo or Kim Kardashian in Tom Ford?
