Blog Off: Florence Welch in Miu Miu...

Cannes Film Festival - the time of year when you can just imagine the stars' stylists running around like headless chicken, surviving purely on Starbucks super-skinny, no fat, no nothing lattes, putting multiple looks together for their high profile, demanding clients. The crème de la crème of red carpets happen in Cannes. And then there's Florence Welch. She's known for taking risks, and the trouble with taking risks is that you have a 50/50 chance of them working. Sometimes they SO do with Flo, and sometimes they SO don't.Here she is at The Great Gatsby premiere and Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony on Wednesday evening in a spotty pink Miu Miu dress. Lots of people have had their opinions about this frock on Florence, and here's another few from some blogger friends...Florence Welch cannes film festival Miu Miu

***Danielle from Fashionista Barbie***

I normally admire and quite like Florence's quirky style, but this look is just not working for me. There is just too much going on - the pink, the polka dots and those awful yellow platforms. I get that she has a love affair with Miu Miu but for me this just isn't very Cannes - where is all the glitz and glamour?

***Gurd from Style Cupid Blog***

I HATE to say this of Florence - one of the best style icons of our generation - but this is just a bit blowsy. Whilst it may be Miu Miu - a label that she usually owns (especially when in a heavily printed trouser suit) - the saccharine pink against her striking white skin makes her look washed out. Polka dots make her look dowdy and do nothing for her slender figure. The hair is unkempt, and those shoes look like Caterpillar tractor toys on her feet. Not her best.

***Ella from Coco's Tea Party***

Florence Welch doesn't look too happy in this Miu Miu dress, and it's no surprise why. It's frumpy, far too heavy for Spring/Summer and isn't terribly flattering on her figure. Miu Miu is usually one of my favourites, and I'm sure if this dress was worn in a different way - e.g without those horrible shoes - it would look much better. But for an event as prestigious as the Cannes Film Festival it's just not cutting it...

***And moi...***

Ewwww ewwww ewwwww! FLORENCE, what are you doing?? My God this is bad. It's like when you spot a drink that looks soooo yum and tasty and delicious but when you crack it open and take a swig, it's the sweetest, most hideous thing you've ever tasted. I'm all for emphasizing alabaster skin, but not with this Miu Miu disaster. Not for Cannes. No no no.

Do you agree?
