Hey!

Welcome to The Very Simon G. My blog has been going for nearly a decade, but there ain’t getting away from me just yet! Come in for fashion, fun and everything in between. Enjoy!

Blog Off: Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned in Valentino Couture

The first time I spoke about Sheikha Mozah was back in 2010 when she was over here on a state visit. I couldn't get over her beauty. From her designer turbans (usually made by the same designer or material as her outfit) to her expertly painted face, and from her high(est) end clothes to her amazing shoes, she is probably the most fabulously dressed, uber fashion woman in the middle east, nay the world. And on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, Sheikha Mozah showed just how couture she is, stepping out in TWO Valentino couture dresses at the inauguration of King Willem Alexander of the Netherlands in Amsterdam, alongside some most of the globe's royalty. To be honest, I could write a whole blog just dedicated to Sheikha Mozah, but in the mean time, here's what some blogger friends thought of her highness...Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser Al Missned inauguration of king of netherlands valentino couture

If there's one woman who know how to do conservative chic, it's Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser. I don't even have to always love what she's wearing to love her look, however on these particular occasions I think she looks every bit the royal that she is. Valentino Couture was made for her!

Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser is the picture of elegance in her two Valentino couture looks. She looks stunning in both designs, but the navy blue outfit is my favourite. The statement coral jewellery really pops against the head-to-toe blue. I would suggest copying the look at home, but something tells me it won't be quite as effective on a high street budget. Shame...

This lady is the epitome of elegance and she makes Valentino couture look completely remarkable. This is the ultimate lesson in how being understated has even more of an impact than wearing something monstrously shout-y. The regal shape of the dresses have a 50s edge to them that pinch her in exactly the right place. The colours make her skin glow. And those singular pieces of statement jewellery compliment everything, like perfect cherries on top. Beautiful!

***And moi...***

I actually gasped out loud when I saw Sheikha Mozah. I know I've never met her, and probably never will, but I feel like we're on totally the same page when it comes to fashion. I mean, do you KNOW how much Valentino couture I have in my wardrobe I want?? She's a remarkable looking woman with an extraordinary taste for the most exquisite gowns. Hands down my favourite royal ever. I'm shamelessly fashion biased.

Yours truly, The VSG x
