OH. MY. ACTUAL. GOD. How the hell have I only just heard about this? Why has no one over the other side of the pond alerted me to the fact that Bloomingdale's New York is showcasing only some of my all time favourite A-listers' gowns EVER??WHY WHY WHY?So basically this is the low down... during Gay Pride month (which ends THIS SUNDAY PEOPLE!), Bloomingdale's has got hold of a selection of gowns to honour the achievements of their creators and the 'beauty and glamour the LGBT artists bring to television, film, concerts and the red carpet' whilst wearing them. They've got something from Kathy Griffin, Jane Lynch and Meryl Streep - all great ambassadors for Pride. How amazing is this project?? Absolutely one of the best I've heard of from a major department store. London, take note! And you know why I'm so friggin' excited?? They've only got THAT dress and headpiece designed by Bob Mackie for CHER on display. Actual, physical Cher. Actual, physical Bob Mackie. The one she wore for her Caesars Palace gig, AND in her spread for Vanity Fair last year.
***Bob Mackie with his Cher design***
***The BEST catwalk I've ever seen!***
And here's some more of the dresses...
***Kathy Griffin winning her Emmy in custom Ali Rahimi***
***Meryl Streep at the Oscars in her Chris March gown***
***and Jane Lynch in her layered Ali Rahimi gown at the SAG Awards***
Apparently, according to Bob Mackie, people have been asking if they can buy some of the dresses. It wasn't me, lovely reader, I wish I was in New York, but to auction them off for a charity would be an amazing thing to do too. Aren't they all fab? I'd quite happily frame any of them!
And remember, if you're near Bloomingdale's New York, you have until THIS SUNDAY to go see the gowns! Take the chance, I wish I could!
