Hey!

Welcome to The Very Simon G. My blog has been going for nearly a decade, but there ain’t getting away from me just yet! Come in for fashion, fun and everything in between. Enjoy!

Hot and getting Hotter!

Well,

I can safely say im hot. In fact, I can safely say i've never been hotter! My face is melting, and my hair colour is running down my cheeks! Apart from that im good and getting brown without the much missed aid of sunbeds!

So we left Phangnan and headed over to Samui. When we arrived off the boat (beginning to feel like immagrants!) we were greeted, as per usual in thailand, by the thousands of screaming little thai people selling us a room. We decided to go to the recommended Mandalay resort thingy, and in true Simon and Lee stlye, we kindly declined the truck taxi's which take like 10 people all over samui, and got in an air conditioned car, just the two of us - class all the way - I have my mother to thank. The Mandalay wasnt all that and was quite expensive at about 7 pound a night each. We didnt much like Chaweng Beach, it was very English and touristy and quite Chavy so we only stayed one night and decided to rent a jeep and drive around the island. It was a lot of fun and we got to see everything on the island worth seeing, including the Big Buddha which personally, and no disrespect to anyone who believes in all that, looked to me like a load of old papier-mache and gold glitter paint!

My hair was pissing me off, so on route I bought a Louis Vuitton head scarf thing which is white with the coloured initionals, much to Lee's horror! It was so funny. Just picture it - less Cagney and Lacey, more Robinson Crusoe and his girl Friday! We stayed in Lamai Beach for one night which was lovely and the following morning drove back round the island, stopping off at a crocodile farm at about 8 30am which was interesting! We had to drop the jeep back to the travel agent (another one we got friendly with, her name was Oh, it was actually Oh!!! Lovely lady and helped us greatly) in Chaweng Beach, and we couldnt get to any other island until the following day, so we asked Oh to arrange a nice place to stay for the night, which she did, at about 3 pound each! That night, we went to see a Lady Boy show at the well known Christies in Samui. WELL is all I can say!!!! Ive never seen women/men/things/aliens prance around a stage quite like it before. The cabaret was brilliant, and very funny when one of them mimed to Liza Minnelli's version of New York New York. The costumes where amazing, I was in my element! At one point one of them had their willy's flapping about inbetween the slit of their dress which was so funny - and proved to me that not all of them have the 3 piece taken out and a gas fire fitted!

Enough of Samui, so we headed over to Phi Phi. Obviously not that simple! We didnt fly, we got the cheap version - the order is a blur to me now, but it consisted of boat ride, bus ride, more boats and more buses. One bus ride seemed like it took forever. More and more stinking old thai people got on and all the goodlooking ones seeemed to get off, so I slept! To cut a long journey short, we had to stay the night in Krabi coz we missed the boat (not our fault i might add!). Krabi was nothing to look at really apart from screaming kids and a bastard carnival-cum-fair ground thing opposite our window! So wont be returning there in a hurry! We finally got on the boat the next morning and headed for Phi Phi. Phi Phi is lovely, apart from the obvious devistation. All the locals are friendly and welcoming. We got off the boat and there were the sellers again, we agreed to go look at a place first, but it was a 15 minute walk - no taxis on the island! And considering we are both shlapping literally both our pine wardrobes on our backs, we opted for right here right now and are staying in a nice place in the town centre. We went out last nite with these 2 girls we met in the first week who we bumped into again here, who are lovely and today we went on a 4 hour boat ride round Phi Phi and Phi Phi lei where the beach was filmed. They even got me in a kayake, which was not easy, believe me!!! I felt like a cross between a beached whale and Michelle McManus lying on this thing while Lee rowed his little heart out!!!!

Anyway, we are off to Phuket tomorow and then either back to Bangkok for 2 nights or straight to singapore to go off to Oz, but i'll keep you updated as and when we know.

I hope you are all ok and doing ok without me, let me know whats news, im always interested!

Take care,

Lots of love
